Frequently Asked Questions
Sourcing & Quality
Why does Bon use whole foods without artificial ingredients?
- We build our snacks around whole foods because they provide nutrition in its most complete and functional form. Whole foods contain naturally balanced combinations of macronutrients, micronutrients, fiber, and bioactive compounds that work together to support digestion, nutrient absorption, energy production, and satiety.
- Highly processed foods and artificial ingredients are often engineered for cost efficiency, shelf stability, or hyper-palatability rather than nutritional value. While artificial flavors and additives may replicate taste, they do not provide the underlying nutrients found in real food. Many are designed to encourage continued consumption without promoting fullness or nourishment.
- Our approach is intentionally different. We choose ingredients that are recognizable, minimally processed, and nutritionally meaningful. This supports mindful eating, sustained energy, and long-term wellbeing—rather than short-term stimulation with little nutritional return.
Are your products Non-GMO?
Yes. All of our ingredients are Non-GMO.
Why aren’t all ingredients organic?
- We take a balanced, intentional approach to organic sourcing.
- Organic certification can be a strong indicator of cleaner farming practices, but it isn’t the only signal of quality. We prioritize organic ingredients where it has the biggest impact on purity, environmental exposure, and processing risk. In other cases, we work directly with small, high-quality farmers and suppliers who use clean, responsible practices but may not carry formal organic certification due to cost or scale.
Why do you prioritize local sourcing when possible?
- Local sourcing is central to our philosophy and to building a more resilient food system.
- Small and mid-sized independent farms make up the majority of U.S. farms, yet they account for a disproportionately small share of total agricultural output value. As large-scale industrial agriculture has expanded, it has often prioritized short-term efficiency over long-term resilience—contributing to soil degradation, reduced nutrient density, antibiotic resistance, and environmental stress.
- By sourcing locally when possible, we support independent farmers, strengthen regional food systems, reduce supply-chain fragility, and maintain closer oversight of how our ingredients are grown and handled.
